    Scenes in Dublin - crowds protest against compulsory military service.

    Ireland; World War One. Protest Demonstration against Conscription. Opens with shot from high position panning over city of Dublin; a wide divided street; with monuments in the median; many pedestrians walking about. DS CU crowd; men and women; raising their hands; slow pan to look down on man holding a paper. CU Men crowded around a table where they take turns signing petition. Many men coming out of building; pouring down steps. A boy stands in FG looking at camera for a while; then when another kid walks by he goes; too.

    Shot of masses of people crammed close together -- cool shot! Side view same; pan over crowd. More shots looking over crowd at rally. Men coming out of the building again; one young man - actually teenager - is carrying a paper which says in large letters 'PLEDGE' and more underneath; he and other boys walk by in FG. Looking over crowd again; some waving their hats. CU the teenage boys holding up paper to camera: 'Anti-Conscription Pledge' which states 'Denying the right of the British Government to enforce Compulsory Service in this Country we pledge ourselves solemnly to resist Conscription...' etc etc. The boys look very young and serious.
