L/S of man walking down steps from station platform wearing trench coat and carrying golf clubs. He is greeted by a his friend Sandy Powell. Sandy informs his friend that ".. everything is just the same as you left it." and "... you'll never know that you've been away.
However, it becomes quite clear as the two men walk down a quiet country road that everything is not well. Things go from bad to worse when the friend asks Sandy how is dog is, Sandy replies that "..he got burnt !" When he enquires as to how this happened he is informed that it was because the garage was on fire.
As the walk continues the poor man finds out from Sandy that he has also lost his car and house to the fire. He also finds out that his mother-in-law is dead and his wife has run away with the chauffeur. Sandy finishes by saying "But apart from that everything is the same as you left it !"

A gentleman walks onto stage to introduce the next act Sam Mayo. He brushes his hat on his arm and sweeps his hand over the top of his head as if to brush back his hair (even though he is bald !). The gentleman introduces Mayo as the `Whispering Whatsit'."
