CU Graphic animation of the successful experiment made by Russian moon probe Zond 5, orbiting the earth once then circling around the moon and back to earth. Various shots, Academician Sedov, speaking in Russian, explaining to S.O.F. the flight of the Zond 5 space flight using diagrams and a map. He explains how it was launched on 15th September by a powerful rocket system to an intermediate orbit where additional engines sent the probe out on its trajectory. It flew around the moon, passing back into air at 11 Km per second and slowing. At 7 Km above sea level, parachutes opened and it fell into the Indian Ocean. The success of the experiment would revolutionise the safe return to Earth of space probes.
