  • Short Summary

Ruins of Lui-Wu destroyed in Chinese Civil War. China.

  • Description

    French titles.

Chinese Civil War; 1924. Ruins of the city of Lui-Wu; China.

Pan on scene of massive destruction; not one building seems to be left intact; parts of walls stick up out of piles of rubble; glimpses of a few civilians moving through the ruins. CU wall scarred with many holes. Shot looking through shell hole in wall to where some men stand behind trees in background.

LS pan on some locals hiding behind a barricade made of boxes; bags; straw; etc. CU elderly man poses with large broken umbrella; he takes off his cap and fans himself with it; laughing (maybe he's trying to say the umbrella won't keep out the sun anymore); then twirls the umbrella on his shoulder.
