New York, United States of America.
At a scientific demonstration we see scientists making a kind of synthetic rubber called 'Buna F' - known as 'Bouncing Buna'. The men pass around a small ball of Buna and bounce it on their table.
They then mix up some 'boothill' rubber, that changes very quickly from clouds of vapour to a huge sticky mound of gunk. One man tries to stretch a piece of boothill.
