  • Short Summary

King George V, Queen Mary etc., at nautical event.

  • Description

British royalty at unidentified major nautical event - new royal yacht going out to sea? Bridge opening ? Christening / launching not actually seen.

Location of events unknown / unclear.

Shot from boat deck of big ship looking down at people on bank of river or canal. Shot looking through rigging as ship goes through drawbridge. More shots from ship: docks with big derricks; another bridge. Nice shots looking toward bow; with sailors on foredeck. Ship is being turned to fit into a fairly narrow canal; another drawbridge is ahead; then after that wider river. Crowds all alongside; flags strung up between tall lampposts - very festive look.

Tracking shot moving faster in wider part. Smaller ship with no name visible pulls up to where several men stand waiting on dock. King George V, Queen Mary; the Prince of Wales (future Edward VIII / Duke of Windsor) Princess Mary; etc., come off boat; they walk by with royal navy officers. Shot from high up looking across river at the smaller boat passing. Royal family etc., standing in front of their seats under a shelter; Archbishop of Canterbury also present; pan left across pier to a crowd seated in a grandstand; facing the King.

LS as King and Queen meet people: line of men stand holding hats; waiting to make their bows. A few quick shots together out of order; including brief shot of King reviewing sailors. Another tracking shot passing along docks. Various shots of King's boat. Same coming through drawbridge; sailors on either side; big ribbon across mouth of canal in front of bridge. Various shots of drawbridge opening. MS yacht sailing along.
