    London.

LV People entering foyer of the Empire Leicester Square, for Royal Film Performance of 'The Horse's Mouth'. Film star actor Richard Todd and his wife arrive and walk into the theatre. Actress Janette Scott arrives with her escort Peter Arne. General view of crowd waving. American film star Lauren Bacall walks into the theatre. Actor Alec Guinness, star of 'The Horse's Mouth', arrives with his wife, Merula.

In the foyer we see stars and guests assembling, shots of 7-year-old Maxine Bygraves (daughter of Max); singer Frankie Vaughan and his wife; voluptuous starlet (?) June Cunningham; actor Terry-Thomas; film star / comic actor Peter Sellers and his first wife, Anne. The Queen Mother and Princess Margaret (looking very glam) arrive and are greeted by the general manager, Mr A Sidi. The Queen Mother shakes hands with President of Cinematograph Trade Benevolent Fund, Lord J Arthur Rank.

Stars line up in the foyer to be presented to the royals. Peter Sellers chats to Janette Scott and Simone Signoret, standing either side of him. The Queen Mother shakes hands with Max Bygraves while Princess Margaret meets Richard Attenborough and Lauren Bacall. Queen Mother moves along line to Ian Carmichael and Maurice Chevalier, who she apparently chatted to in French.

Janette Scott curtsies to the Queen Mother then chats to Princess Margaret. 4-year-old Amanda Abeles, daughter of Managing Director of Warner Brothers, presents Queen Mother with a bouquet. Princess Margaret chats to Kay Walsh, also in 'The Horse's Mouth', then is given a bouquet by Maxine Bygraves. The royals walk towards the auditorium.

    Amendment August 2011:
A visitor Vince Bray wrote in to inform us that this clip shows the actress Virginia Maskell. A rarity as sadly she died with a decade as a result of suicide. Maskell can be seen at 01:28-01:39 and 01:39-01:43
