• Short Summary

Whirling Dervish dancing in the desert near Cairo.

  • Description

    Cairo, Egypt.

Travelogue. We see the famous "Whirling Dervish" dance in the desert near Cairo. Various shots of a group of men dancing themselves into a trance. Two camels are seen in the foreground and pyramids in the background. Good shots of the dancers and musicians.

One of the dancers falls to the ground and continues to nod his head in a trance. A companion removes his shoes presumably to prevent injury.

American narration. We are given some history into the traditional dance.

Note: title suggests that The Empress of Britain was the ship on which this trip was undertaken - we don't see the ship.
