M/S as the manilla hemp from the Philippines used to make rope is hoisted onto the dock. M/S as a forklift truck carries a pile to add to stacks at the factory in Charlton. Various shots as a woman cuts it into 6 foot lengths. Various shots as machines comb it.

    Various shots as it is curled around and fed into big pots. M/S's of a spinning machine and bobbins. M/S as it is fed through a plate with holes in to make it the correct thickness, M/S as the thick strands come out of the other side. M/S as they are twisted. M/S as machines pull them on the rope walk and they are wound around a revolving hook. Various shots of different ropes, C/U of one with a big fringe.
