  1. jamied says

Milton Reynolds was an American entrepreneur, known for introducing the first ballpoint pen to be sold in the U.S.

The aircraft seen here was a converted Douglas A26 bomber, Serial Number NX67834.

"The plane's pilot is Milton Reynolds" - although Milton Reynolds is certainly on board, the pilot is actually William "Bill" Odom, with Tex Sallee (sometimes credited as T. Carroll Salee) as co-pilot.

Further footage of the plane, (and also its crew), can be seen in clip 1181.16.

  2. jamied says

Later in 1947 the aircraft flew around the world in 79 hours, a record time for a twin-engined propellor aircraft.

  3. jamied says

The record-breaking flight can be seen in clip 2150.18.
