My Mother and her family were forced to flee there home in Pola, Italy when she was just a little girl. The family migrated to Northam Western australia and were fortunate enough to start a new life in WA, unfortunately my grandfather was mentally disturbed due to the effects of the war and never recovered properly. To make matters worse my mother married an Australian man (my father). When she was in her mid 30's my mums side of the family kind of disconed her. Growing up for me was not as pleasent as it should have been, and when my mother passed away at age 56 it was a big shock for. I remember visiting my relatives and spending Sunday's at my mums sister's house enjoying a traditional lunch with plenty of laughs, gourmet meats and cheese's not to mention the home made Grappa and plenty of noise. I wish I could turn back the hands of time.
