    Ten boys who are winners of a nation-wide competition are given the opportunity to learn how to be cowboys at Britain's only American style ranch. Various shots of the boys riding horses along dusty paths and across fields. An adult leads the boys - he is ex "cowpuncher" Ross Salmon, he wears a cowboy shirt.

    The boys all gather round Ross then attempt various stunts. One dismounts as his horse is still moving, another leans down and picks up a hat from the ground as the horse keeps moving. Various shot of horses grazing and of the boys riding through the countryside. The course fosters the boys' natural spirit of adventure and gives them a new attitude to the open air life.

    They help to round up horses, practice lassoing, and enjoy some of Ross's tricks. M/S of two boys standing opposite each other with a piece of paper held in their mouths. Ross uses his whip to knock the paper out of one boy's mouth then knocks it out of mouth of the boy who is left holding it.

    C/U of a tree trunk. John Case demonstrates the art of tree felling. One of the boys has a go with the axe. C/U of one of the boys watching - he wears a cowboy hat. M/S of one of the older boys and John Case using a two handled saw to slice through a tree trunk. The tree falls.
