The location is likely to be somewhere in the Greater London area, as at 01:03 the car drives alongside a London bus operating on route 152.

History in the making! What a great piece of footage.
This depicts John Cooper in his first Cooper racing car that he and good friend Eric Brandon began competing with at hill climbs in July 1946.
There was full scale Cooper racing car construction happening by early 1948. What followed was plenty of success.
The modest garage location is at his dad, Charles Cooper's Garage in Surbiton - Holyfield & Ewell Roads to be precise. With the main road footage most likely the Kingston By-pass, with the Cooper Garage trade plates attached. A scene that would have been witnessed by many residents over the ensuing years.
Thank you to British Pathe for sharing.
