M/S of Tommy Winters leading a dark brown horse named Canardeau out of the stables. The horse is followed out of the stables by a sheep. The narrator comments "well,hello - that one's a bit small on the small side, isn't it?" Low angle shot of Tommy being helped onto the dark brown horse. C/U of the horse whinnying. C/U of the sheep. The narrator quips "no, it's not an experiment in breeding racing sheep!" M/S of the stable hands riding the racehorses around the corner of the stables. M/S of the horses trotting down a rough country road lined with cottages. M/S of Canardeau being ridden along the road. Galway the sheep ambles along at the horse's side. The narrator explains she is a little "long in the tooth" - Galway is in fact eleven years old. M/S of the sheep, lead by Paul aged 15, and the horse walking down a sloping gravel road.

L/S of four race horses and their jockeys galloping across a muddy hill. Panning shot follows two more horses at the rear. The camera pauses as, in the background, Canardeau and Galway wander into the paddock. According to the narrator, Canardeau's woolly companion is a calming influence on him - the horse's owner, Captain Ryan Price, put the sheep in the stable to stop the horse being so excitable. M/S of Canardeau - "a highly strung animal" - frolicking while Galway watches. M/S of Canardeau galloping off into the distance to join the other horses. C/U of Galway's head being patted by Paul. Low angle shot of the race horses galloping past with Canardeau in the rear. M/S of Paul holding Galway by the reigns. Canardeau enters and Tommy dismounts.
