Documentary about the RAF mostly featuring Second World War material.
Documentary begins with soldiers on the march. The date "1914" is superimposed over the image. Army trucks carrying soldiers pass the camera. Various shots of aircraft being prepared for battle, bombs are put in place, helmets put on etc.
M/S of beauty pageant, probably late 1910s, early 1920s. Girls pass the camera in swimsuits and hats holding parasols. Nice parade. One of the girls is dressed in a swimsuit representing the American stars and stripes flag. Another beauty contest featured - girl does a very strange, staggering pose by the side of a beach. Possibly in Atlantic City. More women pass camera. A fashion parade - probably 1920s. Woman poses in white fur and tiara, a tea dress is modelled and a bride and bridesmaids outfits.
A stunt car drives over a building and crashes to the ground, much dust surrounds it. Woman (?) does a stunt on the top wing of a bi-plane. She stands on her head on the wing. The plane has the name "Lillian Boyer" on the side. The woman then hangs from the bottom of the plane on a rope. Montage sequence of aircraft stunts and crashes. Strange winged craft take of and land. Early flight inventions are shown. Strange car with four propellers leaves the ground for a few seconds. C/U of a man pedalling inside a proto-aircraft. It moves along then all the wings come crashing down- the plane collapses. Other aircraft are show - some strange, some presumably the successful result of some of this experimentation. M/S of men looking at a map showing the progress of the "King's Cup Flight".
"1939" date is superimposed over footage of Hitler making an animated speech. Aerial views of Blitz damage. Firemen attempting to put out blazes. Airmen "scramble" and planes take off. Various shots of planes in flight, anti-aircraft guns in operation, air to air combat, explosions, direct hits, planes falling from the sky etc. Continued.
