The person in the Lab is Colin Smith. This is almost certainly a chemistry lab. Colin went on to study chemistry at Saint Catharines College Cambridge before embarking on a career as a teacher. He was long term head of Chemistry at Lutterworth Grammar School in Leicestershire.
