Queen Mother and others gather on platform for ceremony at Playhouse Cinema. Shots of Provost, James Mackintosh Grigor, making a speech of welcome to the Queen Mother, saying she has captured the hearts of all Scots (applause).
L/S of Town Clerk, Mr James Cameron reading the Burgess Ticket, then Queen Mother takes the oath, promising to redeem herself as a Burgess of the Royal Borough of Inverness. The Provost places a ring on the Queen Mother's finger and then hands her the Roll on a silver salver. She signs the Roll and the crowd gives three cheers.
The Queen Mother makes a speech in reply to Provost, saying she is very grateful for their kind welcome. She says she is deeply touched they should wish that she should become a Burgess of Inverness and is very proud of the honour. She goes on to say "There is something about Inverness which stirs the imagination of all Scottish people. In its proud position, astride its river, it holds the key to the highlands of Scotland, and the history of this country is closely woven into its fabric." She ends by saying "May prosperity and fame ever dwell in Inverness".
The people applaud, then we see everyone standing for snatches of the national anthem before the Queen Mother and party walk off the platform.
