A look at newly designed prison dormitory and cell in London.
Titles read: "PRISON CELL OF THE FUTURE".
Monck Street, London.
Various shots show a new type of prison cell. A dormitory contains 3 beds with bedclothes piled neatly at one end. We see the lockers and clothes hanging beside them. Boots and slippers stand beside one of the lockers. There is also a writing desk with some books on it.
Deputy Chairman of the Prison Commission, Mr AW Petersen is shown one of the individual cells by Designing Ministry of Works architect Mr LP Murphy. There is a peephole set at an angle in the wall above the bed. Mr Murphy looks in one of the lockers. Another man opens a window. A prisoner sits in a chair with his back to us looking at a book.
