M/S of the new harbour at Sark. Princess and Duke listen while Mrs Hathaway, Dame of Sark, reads speech of welcome. Views of the rocky coastline of Sark showing harbour and small launch in foreground. L/S of Royal Yacht alongside quay. Motor Torpedo Boat (MTB) takes Princess and Duke to quay. Princess and Duke prepare to get out of the launch and onto the quay.
General Sir Frederick Browning, Princess and Duke walk up steps from quay. Princess chats to local man. Dame of Sark introduces Princess to another man. Princess fondles dog that is wandering about near her chair. Dame of Sark makes speech thanking Royals for visiting the island and asks them to declare the new harbour open.
Duke makes speech, talking of the experiences of people on the island during the war, when the occupation force was greater than the population. He also congratulates Mrs Hathaway on the honour she received in the King's birthday honours list. He then declares the new Maseline harbour open and unveils a plaque on the wall.
Princess and Duke get into an open horse-drawn carriage and are driven off, up a winding road. Exterior view of the Seignerie, residence of the Dame and Seigner.
