PRINCESS BEATRIX AND HER FIANCEE HAVE BUSY DAY
G.V. Exterior of Royal Palace of Soestdijk, there's snow on the ground. M.S. Rolls Royce carrying Princess Beatrix and Claus Von Amsberg leaves palace gates. V.S. The Royal couple driving through small village of Baarn. Shots of cheering crowds. V.S. The Royal couple go into the Town Hall of Baarn and meet the burgomaster, Mr.Van Beeck-Calkoen. They give notice of their marriage and sign the register. After a presentation of a gift from the people of Baarn, they depart. V.S. They drive off and back to the palace.
V.S. In The Hague, inside the Dutch Parliament building the Royal couple arrive. Also present are Queen Juliana, Prince Bernhard, Princess Margriet and her fiancee Peter van Vollenhoven. Mrs von Amsberg, Princess Christina, Miss Christina von Amsberg who is the sister of Claus. They all sit and watch a special performance including some young ballet dancers of the Royal Ballet and a short skit by young cabaret star Paul van Vliet. At the end of his act he presents Claus von Amsberg with an overcoat, (Mr Von Amsberg never wears a coat and that is the basis of many jokes in Holland). At the end of the programme hundreds of parachutes in the Dutch flag colours come down from the ceiling with bridal sweets attached (wonderful!). M.S. In an open horse drawn coach the Royal couple drive through the Hague. M.S. They wave from the balcony of the Royal palace (called Lange Voorhout). Crowds. C.U. Dutch flag flying.
