Prince of Wales dons overalls and helmets and walks towards mine with miners.

  • Description

Prince With The Miners - shots of pithead.

    Location of events unknown.

Some good film. GV looking out over mining town - nothing in immediate FG - must be shot from a hill above - nearest is a brick building with tall square chimney; at rt. more buildings connected to it; a walkway going across left to rt. at bottom of screen; with workers walking across; coming from building.- like factory - but probably something to do with mines. Below walkway are train tracks; next to tracks & behind chimney a tall structure of black metal. Tracks go into the town in valley; and in distance hills. Very much the picture of a British industrial town.

Cut to CU some uneven steps on a path on hill; houses beyond hill on rt. The Prince of Wales (Prince Edward) is seen in mining overalls and helmet with a group of miners - walking down path toward camera. Some carrying lanterns and canes. Also they have close fitting small caps which I hope are really helmets. Then side view of men coming down hill; passing camera - houses on steep hillside behind; and more hills in distance. With them is a moustached man not in miner clothing with jacket and cap and boots; also carrying lantern. Maybe he's the owner or something.

Workers; industry; labour; working-class. Coal mining. Dupe ON 385 E.
