    Prince Philip playing in charity cricket match with Denis Compton. He bats (scoring runs), fields and bowls. He wears a pair of sunglasses. Sir Donald Bradman at dinner, "He has the perfect action for a right hand off-spin bowler". Philip laughs as Bradman suggests he will pass the information on to the English selectors. (Probably 48/34). Prince Philip on the balcony at Lords cricket ground. Schoolboys watching a match. L/V cricket pitch at Lords.

    Philip lifts baby Prince Charles (Prince of Wales) out of pram. Princess Elizabeth looks on as Philip sits down on lawn with young Prince Charles. C/U baby Charles. Mother and son. Charles sneezes. King George VI in naval uniform boards ship. Philip on bridge of ship looks out using binoculars. The King and Duke on bridge. Camera pans up to show Royal Standard flag fluttering in the breeze. High angle shot of naval ships in Malta harbour. Motor launch bearing Prince Philip to his ship HMS Magpie. H.M.S. Bulletin being placed on gates of Buckingham Palace. Crowds gathered outside. Duke of Edinburgh speaking from podium.     Shot from back of speeding boat with white ensign flapping in the wind. Motor Patrol Boat at sea. Princess and Duke come ashore in the Channel Islands (Could be Sark (49/52). Royal couple on visit to Italy. C/U French Soldier, Pan down Eiffel Tower in Paris. Elizabeth and Philip walk down line of troops and into motor boat called "Princesse Elisabeth" (48/41). Old woman looks on with binoculars. C/U the royal pair. Children clap and crowds cheer. High angle shot of boat on River Seine.

    Train approaches camera. Princess Elizabeth and Duke of Edinburgh wave from train (Tour of Canada - 1951). Children in warm coats wave. Sound of Elizabeth's speech about the future of Canada. Elizabeth and Philip on bridge of ship. Philip and Elizabeth arrive at Ottawa to visit parliament building. Car has motorcycle escort by night in Washington (The Lincoln Memorial is visible in the background). Philip and Elizabeth at reception.

    Philip and Elizabeth get of train to be greeted by Queen Elizabeth and Prince Charles. Princess Margaret is also in the party. King George VI seeing the couple off on a tour of Ceylon, Australia and New Zealand. They board a BOAC plane and wave goodbye. In Kenya, a young boy is pushed forward to present flowers to Princess Elizabeth. Proclamation of Queen Elizabeth's accession to the thrown being read. Elizabeth descends steps of plane followed by Philip on their forced return from Africa. Amongst those greeting them are Winston Churchill and Clement Attlee. C/U EIIR symbol. Elizabeth Regina. L/S Queen saluting troops as they march past front of Buckingham Palace. C/U Royal family members on balcony. C/U Queen Elizabeth II saluting from horseback. Crowds, held back by police move slowly forwards. Queen rides back in through gates of Palace.

    Plane flies overhead. Prince Philip in uniform and beret looks on. On board anti aircraft guns fire. Ensign flying on aerials of ship. Lots of fighter planes with folded wings on deck of aircraft carrier. Planes take off from carrier. Vampire type jet flies overhead. Guns. Prince on ship. Four planes in formation fly overhead (Possibly 52/98).

    Prince Philip speech to Edinburgh Festival (51/65). "The degree of Doctor of Laws confers on me, I understand, the licence to teach canon and civil law in all the universities of Christendom (Laughter)". "It is no less important that the people who control the scientific machine both layman and scientist should have a proper understanding and appreciation of what science has grown into and its place amongst great forces of the world." "Ladies and gentlemen, it is clearly our duty as citizens to see that science is used for the benefit of mankind. For what use is science if man does not survive."

    Speech continues over pictures of Duke of Edinburgh visiting a hydroelectric plant. Beautiful shot of gear being lowered from roof across factory floor. Philip talks to two men. Hot steel leaving furnace. Duke talking. Crowds outside colliery. Philip climbing into bucket about to be lowered down a mine shaft. He is wearing a heavy jacket and hard hat. C/U faces of miners looking on. Bucket lowered. Philip visits steel works. Philip in laboratory. Wind tunnel starting up. Shots of machinery. Jet flying past. Helicopter flying past. Philip seated in cockpit of jet. The equipment is being described to him. Philip climbing into training aircraft (Harvard). Aircraft taking off. Aircraft flying. Plane banks away.     Note: Some confusion as to number of reels of this film. Safety copy of reel 1 & 2 is combined. Currently unable to find nitrate version of reel 3. Documentation file contains scripts, shotlists, music cue sheets. There was another Pathe documentary about Prince Philip called 'Duke of Edinburgh'; it is currently missing.
