A copy of a speech by the Prince of Wales during a visit to Gosforth (Tyne & Wear) in 1923 (TWAM ref. UD.GO/39/11) includes his recollection "... last year I was fortunate enough to see the Gosforth and Coxlodge Comrades Association Football Team win the British Legion Cup at the Crystal Palace - an achievement on which I heartily congratulate all the members of their Branch". This confirms that the team was from the North East rather than the North West and that the match was played in London.
