    MS US President John F. Kennedy seated behind desk making a broadcast to the nation. LS Kennedy, newsreel camera in foreground. CU President Kennedy as he makes a dramatic speech about the build up of Soviet missile bases in Cuba and the potential danger to American cities. He tells of his intended blockade on all Russian ships carrying arms to Cuba, and the need for an immediate emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council. He quotes extensively from recent meetings with Soviet leaders and calls their statements false. He calls for Premier Khrushchev to cease his provocative threat to world peace and to end the arms race. He sums up America's attitude to the crisis with these words: "Our aim is not the victory of might but the vindication of right. Not peace at the expense of freedom but both peace and freedom!"
