Royal Naval Reserve crew delivering small vessel to Navy base on British coast.
Part of issue GIVE AND TAKE.
Location of events unknown (top secret because of war!)
A look at work of Admiralty's small vessel pool. Various shots of of Royal Navy officer talking with new recruit of Royal Naval Reserve. The recruit is a World War One veteran with experience at sea. Another recruit enters, also an older man, who volunteers as a ship's cook.
The new recruits join their ship; a motor fishing craft that has been commandeered by the Navy. It is their job to deliver the small to an unnamed Navy bases. Various shots of rest of the crew working on board the fishing boat. The crew are all too old or young to serve in forces but they do have experience as yachtsmen or ex-sailors.
Good shots of crew working at sea: cooking, washing decks, having bath, doing laundry, preparing signal flags, doing knot work etc. The boat arrives at harbour and the skipper (the first recruit) hands over the boat to Royal Navy officers. We see the reserve crew disembark. The blue ensign of the Reserves is replaced by white ensign of Royal Navy.
