Title reads - 'Pola Addio!'

Italians are evicted from the town of Pola (or Pula) in Croatia which has been ceded to Yugoslavia by the peace terms.

Pan across harbour at Pola. Various shots slogans on wall. Pan down boarded up houses where the Italians used to live. C/U as graves are opened, they take their dead with them. Pan across opened gravestones. M/S coffins in a line. C/U's sad looking faces of Italians. M/S as priest blesses the coffins. Various shots of the Italians carrying goods out of houses and loading them onto trucks. Various shots as the families ride along on carts. C/U woman, boy and dog. Various good C/U's of the Italians waiting.

Various shots as they load up the trucks and say goodbye tearfully to friends staying behind. C/U as a young girl climbs frantically up on a lorry to kiss an old woman, who covers her face with her hands and crosses herself. M/S as the girl walks away in tears. M/S as trucks approach ship. L/S as the evacuees embark on a ship waiting in the harbour. C/U as they wave goodbye to Pola from the deck of the ship. C/U of a young girl standing with her hands on the shoulders of her aged mother. They both look back at Pola. The intense emotion felt by the Italians on leaving Pola is summarised in the old woman's staring face, could also typify the resignation of the ordinary people of the world caught in events which are not of their making. L/S of the sea at twilight with the setting sun reflected in the water.
