The 50th anniversary of this air disaster, the worst air disaster in Slovenia\'s history, occurred this year: between the World Cup final & the Aberfan Disaster. It occurred at Llubljana airport at 00:47 on 1st September. The plane, carrying British holiday-makers crashed into trees on its approach to the airport. Ninety-eight of the 117 passengers & crew died. The cause of the crash was an incorrect altimeter setting: the plane was approaching the airport at an altitude of 20 metres instead of 200.

I am a survivor of the crash. My father and two sisters were killed and I was unconscious when my my mother, who was virtually uninjured, dragged me from the wreckage.

The Aberfan memorial has re-kindled memories. I have never been able to find any other survivor of the crash. My mother died in 1997: there is probably no-one still alive that I know who can answer still unanswered questions for me.
