Photographic surveillance in the First World War.
Photographic section (French).
Surveillance using photography. Opens with shot of soldier by some machine. French soldier in clearing; 2 other soldiers approach at same time an object (camera) is lowered from sky by wires -- they take it when it gets down. CU French soldier beside truck; reaches under; removes a sheet of metal from bottom; stoops under the truck and stands up; his top half inside the vehicle with bottom half visible, probably some kind of darkroom inside. He pulls a strap round the back of him. Another soldier stands outside this truck. A little door opens on upper part; he reaches up; pulls out a plate -- like a tintype picture; holds it up to light sky. 3 other soldiers immediately come up to look. They compare the picture with a map.
