"Well 11 weeks behind the iron curtain is a unique experience I should say. How were you treated by the Russians. Driver: 'VERY well indeed. They were very kind to me, very courteous. J.P. 'Do you speak Russian yourself.? Driver: 'Hm! No I picked up quite a lot of the language for an English-Russian dictionary they supplied for me. J.P. 'You felt a bit lonely I should think at times?. Driver: 'No...... J.P: buts in .... 'The aeroplane you landed in - what happened to that? Driver: That's as far as I know is still in the same position. J.P. 'I see. Driver: 'In the same place I crashed. J.P. 'Did your release come as a complete surprise Driver: 'Oh, Very, very. J.P. 'You had no idea at all? Driver. 'No idea at all - it just came right out of the blue. J.P. 'Why do you think they suddenly decided to let you go?. Driver: 'I don't know - I don't know why I was being held or anything. After just over 11 weeks it's.....um! J.P. buts in... glad to be back anyway? What about you Mrs. Driver?. CU. Pan over to Mrs. Driver. MRS. D: This is the worst part of it I think (giggle) J.P: 'Well, we're glad to see you. Tell me how did you feel when you heard your husband had been released? MRS. D. 'Well, I knew that I'd be seeing him in 10 minutes. I didn't know what to do first, you know. J.P. 'You were excited, we're you? MRS. D: 'Yes terribly excited. J.P: 'You didn't hear from him for 11 weeks did you? MRS. D: 'No, it was as long as that, yes. J.P: 'Quite an ordeal?. MRS. D. 'Yes.
