    Paris, France.

    Maurice Chevalier, famous French comedian and actor, arrives back in Paris, where he intends to make a film with René Clair called "Silence est d'Or" ("Silence is Golden"). C/U of the Dakota aeroplane carrying Chevalier taxiing into land at the aerodrome. Various shots of Chevalier disembarking and shaking hands with fans and press on tarmac. He makes statement in French into microphone.

    Will Rogers, the 80 year old blacksmith. Various shots of Will shoeing a horse. Various shots of Will making horseshoes in the forge; smelting them and hammering them into shape. He then hangs them up to set and cool. C/U of Will wiping his brow after bending over the furnace (could be any labourer after doing hard manual work). We see him walking home along the cobbled street.
