    Clement Attlee, Prime Minister, at the inaugural supper of "Industrial Goodwill Youth Week" held at the John Benn Hostel. General view of the delegates (all Youth Leaders, mostly from Scout movements) who came from all parts of the British Isles seated at the supper tables. C/U of Attlee shaking hands with some of the delegates. M/S of Attlee speaking, behind him is a Union Jack (natural sound): he talks of youth work he did in his youth and how it helped his political career. C/U of girl delegate listening. C/U of four boys from London, Scotland, North England and West Country giving their opinions on Mr. Attlee attendance (natural sound). They think the visit had a positive effect.

    King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (Queen Mother) open new building for the Bodleian Library at Oxford University. Elevated view of the open-topped Royal car driving through crowd lined streets. M/S of the King and Queen followed by Viscount Halifax (in robes), Chancellor of Oxford University, walking into the college grounds. C/U of the King explaining that he cannot open the door to the new library as the key has broken, officials rush forward to assist him. C/U of the Queen and Lord Halifax smiling at the King's plight. M/S of the King and Queen leaving, climbing into their car. The Royal standard and Royal coat of arms can clearly be seen on the front of the car.
