Song and dance routines from the musical "The Lady of the Rose".

  • Description

Extracts from "The Lady of the Rose" at the Daly's Theatre, London.

The Ballet Dancer - Miss Ivy Tresmand - entertains troops on stage. The chorus dance beside her as she sings. Mariana (Miss Phyllis Dare) saves Count Adrian (Roy Royston) the "disguised silhouette cutter", from the fury of Colonel Belovar (Harry Welchman). Much drama and clasping of hands from Mariana.

Note: part of this story features in "This Was Yesterday" and is probably additional material to that found on this negative.

My mother was a singer/dancer in The Lady of the Rose at Daly's Theatre. Her name was Beatrix Mona Harrison. I believe she would have used Mona Harrison as her stage name. I thought it was in 1925 but possibly it was earlier. Robin Roads.
