    Item title reads - Pathe cameramen go anywhere! Our operator risked his life to obtain these exclusive pictures of much discussed American lifesaving device for entrapped submarine crews.

    M/S of a man turning handle on a hatch. M/S of S4 submerging while a small boat sails by it.

    Intertitle - 'The room is partially flooded to equalise pressure. The men stand with heads in 2 feet of air space.' M/S of two sailors in the confined space with their head and upper chest above water, they are holding the breathing apparatus.

    Intertitle - 'Lieutenant Momsen uses batteryless 'phone to talk with ship's Captain in control room.' C/U of Momsen talking through the mouthpiece of the telephone, he has headphones on. He quickly turns and pulls ropes out.

    Intertitle - 'putting on mechanical lung and diving into escape hatch.' The sailors put on their lungs and prepare to dive down.

    Intertitle - 'As the sea door opens.' Distorted pictures filmed through the water of the men opening the sea door and going out. M/S as one surfaces by the small boat. M/S as another sailor fits the breathing apparatus to his nose inside the submarine.

    Intertitle - 'Our cameraman C.T. Traub and Lieutenant Momsen stayed in the engine room while the water was blown out by compressed air. This has never been attempted before.'
    M/S of Momsen fitting his breathing gear then submerging. M/S as he climbs through the sea door. M/S as he surfaces outside. M/S of S4 coming back to surface again.
