    Various shots of the funeral procession of Lieutenant Commander Eugene Kingsmill Esmonde, leader of the heroic attack by Swordfish aircraft on the escaping Gneisenau and Scharnhorst (German warships) up the English Channel. Esmonde was the first VC of the Second World War to be buried in English soil.

    High officers of the Navy, Air Force and Royal Marines pay their respects as the coffin is lowered into the grave. Sailor fire rifles and the last post (?) is sounded.
