Oyster fishers are seen at work off the coast of Whitstable in Kent.
Fishermen set out from the harbour at Whitstable with buckets full of young oysters, reared in river beds; these will be thrown in the sea to mature (we don't see them being thrown in!).
At sea a dredger is lowered into the water to bring up oysters and other sea creatures; a young man rolls a cigarette while waiting. Starfish and other sea creatures are amongst the catch; the men sort through the oysters to pick out the biggest and best ones; the ones that aren't fully grown are thrown back in the sea.
The young man sits on the side of the boat, opens an oyster and eats it.
Cuts exist - see separate record.
