II was a participant and me and my school friend Sharon Weaver made it to Wembley but were so exhausted we collapsed in a heap and were taken home by her Dad. We both then slept for almost 24 hours!
My mother ex ATS made me rub surgical spirit into my feet in the weeks before hand and I had to wear very sensible shoes!
II feel cheated now by the extremely hot weather that we never got to enjoy the concert but we really did finish it and I made £5 altogether for Oxfam as I\'m certain nobody in my family truly believed I could do it!
We did the Amersham to Wembley Stadium walk and people were very encouraging leaving us plenty of drinks on their front walls and egging us on.
IIt\'s a lovely memory and wonderful to find this news item still exists.
