  • Description

Cuts (rushes, out takes) for stories in Colour Pictorial - CP 669. The original stories are on Pathe Master tape *PM0423*.

Cuts for story WOBURN LOVE-IN in CP 669. Mostly similar footage to cut story of hippies, flower children and beautiful people gathering at Woburn Park for a Love-in. Some more shots of the hot air balloon taking off and flying over the love-in field. Several more shots of the band playing on the stage; hippies dancing, picking up the fallen flowers, wandering around the grounds and enjoying the merry-go-round and fairground rides. A bloke in a crazy white wig sits on the grass and smokes a cigarette. Two girls get out of a decorated mini. Good swinging sixties footage.

Cuts for story FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD in CP 669. Similar footage to cut story showing the filming of a sequence from the film Far From the Madding Crowd at the 'Sheep Fair' in Dorset. Some more great shots of the crew preparing to film in the circus tent and outside in the fair. Julie Christie and Peter Finch are seen in their positions for filming in the circus tent; Julie checks her appearance in a mirror. Several shots of John Schlesinger and Nicolas Roeg (? in brown sheepskin coat?) checking the set-ups before filming. Extras in costume queue at a tea stand. Terence Stamp and opponent rehearse their duel in the circus tent before the camera; photographers snap away. In the tent, a man on a horse rides around the ring - probably a rehearsal shot. Lovely shots of Peter Finch wandering around the fair set. Some brief (mute) clips from the actual film.

Well worth checking out for extra footage for both stories.
