    Southampton, Hampshire.

Dignitary, probably Mayor of Southampton, speaking about the opening of the Plaza Cinema in Southampton. He talks about the proprietors wanting to show British films and films suitable for families.

Gathering of men who have worked on the building outside the cinema. One by one some of the men are introduced - Mr Richmond, the architect; Mr Richardson, responsible for the building; Mr Mollo (sp?) the decorators; Mr F J Spikenal (sp?) - owner. He then thanks the Mayor for his kind words.

Exterior view of the Plaza cinema - The film playing is 'Looking on the Bright Side' starring Gracie Fields. This would date the piece at 1932.
