    Shots of Edward Jacobson walking along the entrance tunnel to his one man coalmine.

    Various shots of Mr Jacobson, bare chested but wearing a safety helmet, mining the coal seam with a pickaxe.

    He pushes a coal barrow into the pit. The sign over the shaft reads: "Hesleyside Colliery".

    He pushes the coal truck back out of the drift and up a short incline. He brings truck to a halt and tips out a load of coal.

    N.B. This is an adit mine - a horizontal mine into the side of a hillside.
