• Short Summary

Cambridge rowing team show off their skills in training session for the Boat Race.

  • Description

Rowers from Cambridge University put in some practice for the annual boat race.

Full title reads: "Putney. On the Tideway for first time. The Light Blues please the critics immensely ..."

    Putney, Greater London.

Members of the Cambridge University boat race crew climb into their craft. Among those getting in is Rickett (the President of the club).

High angle shot. the boat moves away from the bank out into the River Thames. A crowd are gathered to see the team off. This is the team's first outing on the tideway. They begin to row away. A small motor launch follows them.

L/S the crew rowing along the river. (Voice over suggests that experts are calling them 'the finest crew since the war.")

(It appears that there was a section about the Oxford team's practice session - there is sound for 'Dark Blues" but the visuals are missing)
