Locals work to dig anti-tank defences in towns. M/S of a new armoured train rolling out of a factory and along the track. New tanks roll out of factories.
In a field, soldiers stand in the snow and listen to a message from Joseph Stalin being read out. Various shots of Caucasian Cossacks riding through a snow-covered forest and infantry moving through the snow. Tanks are manned and start to roll forward through a barbed wire fence and on through the woods.
Various shots of Russian artillery of all sizes taking part in the offensive. The armoured train and tanks are seen moving forwards. Russian Air Force planes take off from a snowy airfield. Air to air shots of Russian bombers in flight and dropping bombs that explode in the snow.

After the German retreat we see various shots of wrecked military equipment lying in the snow amongst frozen dead Germans. German prisoners stamp their feet to keep warm in the freezing snow.
