Reel 2 continued. Another launch of the balloon is shown. M/S of man standing on deck looking out to sea. Various shots of the sea and the boat. Crew member on deck - possibly the Captain. Smoke is seen on the horizon. The "Weather Watcher" is their relief ship. Captain talks into radio and looks through binoculars. L/S of the ship approaching. L/S of man looking to sea with binoculars. C/U of ship's telegraph. M/S of man in boiler room. C/U of machinery in boiler room. Low angle shot of three crew members waving and smiling - very pleased to be going on leave. C/U of diary entry being written. The words "Homeward Bound" are added to with: "Shave off beard." C/U of man looking in mirror and shaving off his beard. C/Us of ship's telegraph and machinery turning. M/S of lower body of our narrator as he approaches his home, opens the gate and walks up the path. Front door opens and his wife runs to greet him. We see them embrace but only their torsos and lower bodies - no faces. C/U of the young boy running out of the front door. He holds a balloon. He holds it up towards his father and film cuts to weather balloon being launched. L/S of ship.
