Various locations of events.
In New York, United States of America, we see various shots of American servicewomen taking part in a street parade. Women in uniform (probably WACs / Women's Army Corps) salute Mayor La Guardia and other officials on a platform. They are followed by Red Cross Nurses and women involved in war production work. Nice shots of women in civvies marching along wearing armbands (some also wear tin hats - ARP wardens?).
In Canada we see hundreds of men of the Canadian Home Guard standing on a parade ground and listening to a speech by Brigadier Armstrong. Natural sound as he talks of the role they will be playing in the defence of Canada.
In the United States of America, we see various shots of Commandos being put through their paces as they endure an obstacle course. They climb through concrete tubes and swing across ditches on ropes.
At a California beach we see several shots of a beauty contest where men of the American Army and Navy are the judges. The pretty girls pose nicely; some positively swagger along the catwalk! Servicemen lie on the sand to take cine film and photos of the glamour girls. The three winning girls are seen in clinches with three of the judges (what a prize!).
