    Various shots of Italian Army exercises. Italy's 30th artillery regiment is on manoeuvres in mountains. The soldiers use horses to carry artillery up slopes. We then see them assembling the guns and firing them into the mountains for target practice.

    Intertitle reads: "Breadsall".

    Bridge breaking in Derbyshire. Ministry of Transport test old bridges to destruction. Old hump backed bridge is painted with numbers. A large weight is placed on top of bridge. Various men make notes of which numbered sections are first to show signs of stress.

    Intertitle reads: "Eastbourne".

    Beauty Queen crowned in Sussex seaside resort. Crowds on deck chairs watch coronation ceremony on sea front band strand. Mary McIntyre, Canadian exchange student, is Carnival Queen. She makes a speech to the crowds.

    Intertitle reads: "France".

    Various shots of obstacle race. Competitors run on roads, climb walls, scramble under chicken wire and end by diving into river.

    Intertitle reads: "St. James's Palace".

    Soldiers from 2nd Somerset Light Infantry regiment march through London streets. The Somersets take over from the Guards at St. James'. They are fulfilling their Royal Palace guard duty. Crowds watch as soldiers from the Guards and the Somersets exchange places.

    Intertitle reads: "New Cross".

    Crowds greet car containing H. J. Whitlock, champion Olympics speed walker. Whitlock broke World record at recent Olympic Games. Various shots of Whitlock (wearing laurel crown) posing with mayor on town hall steps. Crowds cheer.
