M/S of a woman coming out of some stables carrying a big bag of straw, she walks across to another stable door. L/S as a man walks past with a wheelbarrow, behind him a man and woman are sweeping the yard. C/U of the woman, the camera pans down to show the brushes sweeping up straw. L/S of Gay Leader, whose father is race horse trainer Harvey Leader. She is training a horse by walking it round in circles, C/U of Gay with the reins in her hand.
M/S of a woman getting on a horse in the stable yard, a man is holding the reins, they walk off past the camera. M/S of a woman in a red jacket on a horse in the yard, they walk into the paddock and follow some others. M/S of two women jockeys looking at a piece of paper and talking, one of them points, the other one is holding a mirror and starts putting on her lipstick. The narrator explains they are getting ready for the Newmarket Town Plate, men are allowed to ride in it but it is usually given over to the women. M/S of a line of female jockeys dressed in their colours, C/U of two female jockeys. L/S as the horses are led round the field, the camera pans across to two more women. M/S of a male jockey and a woman with a camera stood waiting. Various shots of the crowds, horses and jockeys. Various shots of the jockeys mounting their horses and being led towards the starting line. L/S as the horses are led up the course, various shots of the horses. C/U of a sign saying 'William Barnet', underneath there is a sign saying 'Newmarket Town Plate'. L/S of the horses at the starting line, a man waves the flag. L/S as the horses race away. C/U of two men watching, one of them cheers the jockeys on. M/S of the winner 'Fulminate' as it races towards the finish line, it is ridden by Mrs Susan Piggott, Lester's wife. Gay Leader comes in second, M/S of the crowd watching. M/S as Susan rides into the enclosure and dismounts, she pats the horse.
