This is the 74 inch reflecting telescope being tested at the Grubb Parsons works in Walkergate, Newcastle upon Tyne in 1938. It is destined for the Radcliffe Observatory in Pretoria, South Africa. It has since been re-sited (1974) and is now at the South African Astronomical Observatory in Sutherland, Northern Cape.
