Thank you for the most interesting video. For, you see, that was my Father. He set that record about 5 months before I was born.
I have sat in that boat more than once. My Dad had many wins in his career, back when it was an "amateur" sport. Boats and speeds have certainly changed since those days.
This video was the very first time I actually saw my Dad on the water in this capacity. I was too young to remember prior to WWII and he did not race after leaving the Navy upon conclusion of the War's end.
Thank you for preserving the bit of history.
