  • Description

Full title reads: "Ireland. New Cadets for Free State Forces. Minister of Defence presents Commissions at the Curragh."

The Curragh Camp, Eire, Southern Ireland, Republic of Ireland.

A man in the Uniform of the army of the Irish Free State walks across parade ground. There are several other soldiers there, some are carrying regimental colours. The man raises a book in his right hand. He appears to be saying an oath on the Bible. He turns and marches away.

He marches to a table behind which stand several officers and a man in civilian clothes - presumably the Defence Minister. The young officer signs his commission.

An officer is presented with his sword. He steps back and salutes. He marches to another table and hands over his commission papers.

A rank of new officers raise their swords in salute.

The various officers shake hands with their newly commissioned colleagues.
