  • Description

Unused / unissued footage - dates and locations may be unclear / unknown.

National Town Criers Championship in Hastings, East Sussex (continued from UN 2655 A).

Various shots show Town Criers parading along the road outside the Town Hall while the Mayor of Hastings and other officials look on. A large crowd follow the competitors.

Several shots of an enormous crowd of people sitting before a bandstand and applauding - presumably watching the contest.

Several shots of Town Criers taking their turn to ring their bells and read the speech. The winner is congratulated by MC Leslie Holmes (variety entertainer / song writer) and handed his trophy cup by the Mayoress of Hastings. He poses for pictures with the Mayoress and Mayor. The winner is cheeky enough to give the Mayoress a kiss - the crowd yells with delight.

Leslie Holmes presents the winner with another, very small cup, and mentions something about him being the Chamber of Commerce Town Crier. Winner's full name is not mentioned although Holmes refers to him as Ben.
