  • Description

Introductory intertitles read: "Brilliant new feats at Sir Alan Cobham's famous Air Display" and "Here is Sir Alan to tell you of his forthcoming visit."

C/U of Sir Alan Cobham who states the following: "The importance of flying or the development of flying to the British cannot be exaggerated. It is so essential that the public of Britain should become air-minded. And as you know for the last seven or eight years we've been actively engaged in conducting a campaign throughout the country in an endeavour to popularise flying with the public. We've discovered the best means of doing it is to give a really first class air display that's entertaining and captures your interest."

Sir Alan continues to speak over footage of an air display. Men in hats and overcoats mill around in front of some stationary aircraft. Low angle shot of group of biplanes and a autogiro / autogyro (?) in the air. Air to air shots of aircraft.

Sir Alan makes predictions about the future of aviation. He speaks of improvements in flying times. He states that he is confident that in ten years time aeroplanes will be as common as motor cars, airports and aerodromes will be as plentiful as golf courses and new arterial roads. He feels that the only solution to this "air congestion business" is to get into the air.

Sir Alan is adamant that the National Aviation Day Display of 1934 is undoubtedly the finest of its kind ever seen in the British Isles. He is quite confident that "any of you that visit this display will be so thrilled and entertained that we will capture your interest for the cause of aviation for all time."
